2010 Blue and White Jacket Dinner

The 2010 Blue and White Jacket Presentation Dinner for the 2010 Victorian State Team Program was held on Saturday 21st August, at the Powerhouse Function Centre in Albert Park. 

The evening recognised the achievements of all teams in our 2010 Indoor and Beach Programs.  All athletes received team photos and certificates of participation. 

The following Most Valuable Players were also awarded on the evening. 

Indoor Program 

Overall Male MVP – Nic May – (SCF VC)

Overall Female MVP – Kathryn Chen – (Eastside Hawks VC)*

*Kathryn also received the inaugural ‘Bill Glasson Medal’

Victorian State League features teams from the suburbs of Melbourne, through to the Mornington Peninsula, Geelong and to Dandenong. Camberwell CobrasDandenong CossacksEastside HawksFalconsHeidelberg Volleyball ClubGeelongMelbourne Uni RenegadesMonash UniversityMorningtonLatrobe ValleySouthern Cross Fairhills and Yarra Ranges compete across 8 divisions. Teams compete for the Men’s and Women’s Honors, Men’s and Women’s Division 1 and 2, as well as Junior Girls and Boys. Can Heidelberg Men’s Honors go back to back, will Eastside Hawks Women’s continue their brilliant form and take out the champions trophy in Honors and Division 1.

This year, after 387 games, 1446 sets, and 61877 points, week one of the finals is shaping up like this for this Saturday at  the State Volleyball Centre in Dandenong North.

Volleyball Victoria will host a new event on Melbourne Cup Weekend this year, "Multicultural Volleyball Cup"

Volleyball is the 2nd  most participated sport in the world and one of the most diverse players in the world participating in our sport in Australia. Volleyball has the capacity to unite all nationalities, gender and levels of skill in one sport and for this reason I am positive that this event will be successful.

We will host Male and Female teams representing their community or country. All levels are welcome and will be catered.

Asian Junior Men's Championships - Australia team announcement

Volleyball Australia would like to announce the Australian team selected to travel to Thailand to participate in the 15th Asian Junior Men’s Volleyball Championships. This event will be held in Nakhonpathom and Ratchaburi from October 1st-11th and is the major qualification event for the World Junior Championships scheduled for 2011. 

Having made several previous tours to Thailand, the team will undoubtedly adjust to conditions quickly, where they must finish as one of the top three teams in the tournament to progress to the World Junior Championships, a feat which no other Australian Junior Team has achieved to date. 

The Australian team will depart our shores on September 22nd where they will compete in the South East Asian Games (SEA Games) for a week, ahead of the official tournament.
