Coach Professional Development Day on March 18th

Volleyball Victoria will be hosting a Coach Professional Development Day on March 18th at the State Volleyball Centre, Dandenong North.

Volleyball Victoria is committed to ensuring a quality experience for all participants in our sport and it is the board’s view that we continue to providing the tools and information necessary to achieve this through our coaching community. We believe this opportunity will become a staple annual event that will allow coaches the opportunity to regularly upskill themselves, develop methodologies to achieve success and adapt to innovative coaching management strategies.

The 2018 Coach Professional Development Day will be held on Sunday March 18th here at the State Volleyball Centre from 10am-4pm. Lunch will be provided and the cost to attend is $55 (inc. GST) for adults or $44 (inc. GST) for Under 19’s wishing to attend. While this event is targeted for our State Team Coaches (both Indoor and Outdoor), it is not exclusively limited to the State Team Program. We openly welcome you to encourage coaches from your local association, school or club to also attend this session. Appointed and prospective State Team coaches are expected to attend this professional development day.

There will be workshops and seminars from the following presenters:
Matthew ScholesPositive Sports Coaching
Matthew is a leader in embedding Positive Psychology into sports organisations. He has worked with schools, sporting clubs and corporates and is currently undertaking work with the Oceania Foundation and the Oceania National Olympic Committees embedding his Positive Sports Coaching program into coaching practice across the region. He is a currently the Director of Education at AFL SportsReady, in charge of AFL Executive level courses, YMCA Victoria Leadership Programs, and Cricket Australia’s Executive courses. He is also a Visiting Scholar in La Trobe University’s Research Centre for Sport and Social Impact (CSSI), as well as being a life member of the Victorian Commonwealth Games Association. He is a highly regarded adult educator, course designer and presenter who has been the recipient of teaching and innovation awards from Holmesglen Institute, Box Hill Institute and Swinburne University including winning the SPATA Industry Training Initiative of the Year in 2010. Matthew has developed and delivered courses for a range of elite sporting organisations including the Oceania National Olympic Committees, AFL, AFL Players Association, AFL Coaches Association, AFL Umpires, Melbourne Storm, YMCA Victoria, Cricket Australia, Melbourne Football Club and Collingwood Football Club. He was also the Training Director for the 2007 FINA World Swimming Championships where he developed and oversaw the training for over 2,000 volunteers and staff.

Loretta KonjarskiVictoria University – College of Sport & Exercise Science
Loretta is the Bachelor of Physical Education and Sport Science and the Bachelor of Sport Science – Physical Education course coordinator at Victoria University. Loretta began her career as a Physical Education teacher at Ivanhoe Girls' Grammar School where she held the positions of Head of Sport and Physical Education Coordinator. She has a passion for physical education, adapted physical education, health education and aquatic education. Loretta’s research focuses on how PE student attitudes change after participating in a learning environment where they are working with people from diverse backgrounds in a controlled inclusive physical activity setting.

Danny KennedyStrength & Conditioning Coach
Danny Kennedy is a certified personal trainer/strength and conditioning coach specialising in training individual athletes and macro/nutrition coaching. Danny is a firm believer of flexible dieting and following a program that is sustainable for unique individuals which is important for a team of multiple athletes. Danny works with a mix of elite athletes and everyday individuals such as Michael Klim, Scott Pendlebury, Dyson Heppell just to name a few.
